How Could This Happen to Me

Lightningstorm pricked his ears hearing paw steps and looked towards the entrance just as Applepaw poked her head into the den probably to bring him some prey. He always kind of felt forgotten but knew that his clan mates wouldn't let him starve to death even if he asked them too. He would never ask something like that though he was too stubborn to die even though he was sad that e couldn't be out in the territory patrolling any more. He returned the smile holding his head high. Most cats would wallow in self pity if something like this had happened to them, but the young elder still had his pride and his pride wouldn't let him seem like a cat who pitied himself. "Thank you Applepaw, I hope you're doing well in your training," he meowed the smile remained on his face but the more he talked to the apprentice about training the more forced it seemed. He could try and pretend that his predicament didn't bother him but it really did and he hadn't been as good at hiding his emotions as he had been when he was an apprentice.
