MINKBELLY
a small balinese mix with blue eyes.
AGE: 12 moons
GENDER: she-cat
SEXUALITY: demisexual
PERSONALITY: Ah, Minkbelly. She's a hoot, the elders can attest to that. She's a loud, proud mess and knows it. Some speculate she is physically incapable of sitting still or shutting her trap for more than a millisecond, and they just might be right! This young gal is as energetic as they come and is always on the go. Now, this doesn't mean she's particularly productive. Being clumsy, Mink often trips over thin air and gets herself hurt in all her excitement. That, paired with a short attention span keeps her forever flitting from one thing to another without really finishing what she's started on. It's been an infuriating habit of hers all her life.
Of course, there is more to Mink than being a loud and silly young warrior. Despite her innocent look, she's got a way of irritating others to the core if she sets her mind to it. Minkbelly finds it exceedingly humorous to rouse a reaction out of those around her, especially her ex-mentor and deputy, Milkwing. The poor guy has been caught in her cross hairs ever since that fateful day they'd first been lumped together as mentor and apprentice. Mink's teasing includes but is not limited to lots of poking/prodding, jokes, being obnoxious, shrill humming, and over-excitability.
While something of a devil's advocate, Minkbelly is a sweet girl. While she does insult people a lot, it's loving. When she's not insulting though, she spouts compliments consistently. Mink is the type with no filter and a cat that easily admires those around her, so she often blurts out the first thing on her mind without much thought. This means everything she says is genuine.
Yes, Minkbelly is a sweet little thing. Well, as long as you don't go and get her fired up. Once something she's passionate about appears in her mind's eye, she stubbornly clings to her opinion on it and lets it be blatantly known. It's been found that no amount of convincing and fact makes her change her mind once its made, and she is prone to argue her point for exhausting amounts of time.
HISTORY: Mink-kit was born an only kit, small and weak. She didn't seem to have much time to live, like her mother who died shortly after birthing her. That left the young she-cat utterly alone in the world, and after only living a short two days! Mink's father had died shortly after impregnating her mom, so he wasn't around to care for her either. Instead, Mink-kit was pushed toward another queen to suckle off of until she was weaned. As soon as she was off of milk, the young kit was shuffled from relative to relative, never really having a solid parent figure to lean on since most of her caretakers were too busy to truly look after her and give her the love she needed. Things were happening in the Clans, and it was far more important to keep the sickly kit healthy and safe rather than happy and loved.
Toward the end of her kithood, Mink-kit was handed off to the final relatives willing to look after the now energetic and strengthening kit. They were both toms, her uncles Toadcry and Slatethroat. Both of them were out-spoken but in totally different ways. While Toad was kind and loud, Slate was brash, stubborn, and more than a little haughty. Even so, the pair showed the young she-cat more love and care than anyone else in her family had bothered to. This paired with their fierce protectiveness concerning her made Mink-kit possibly the happiest little thing in all the world; that's what she claims at least.
Soon enough her uncles were chanting her new name above the rest of the Clan. Oh how proud she was to have overcome her sickly, miserable childhood and become Minkpaw! This was almost dampened by the fact that she'd received one of the crankiest cats in the Clan, Milkwing. That wasn't something that Mink'd let keep her down long though, she'd learned quickly how to deal with cats like Milk because Slatethroat was possibly even worse! Minkpaw had seen her uncle angry plenty of times, and even though the true form of it had never been unleashed on her, it was still terrifying to see the massive tom severely irked. Compared to him, Milkwing was almost hilarious. So you can imagine how much she got under his skin during their time together.
Milkwing soon found Minkpaw had many antics up her sleeves. She'd often attempt surprise attacks on him while he was sleeping and follow him around, chattering his ears off just to get a reaction out of him. Her uncles, while dubious about how strong her relationship with the albino tom had grown (which it surprisingly had rather quickly thanks to her hard work), were happy to see their niece smiling to much. She seemed to have a lot of fun messing with her mentor, and that was all that mattered...so long as she kept herself out of too much trouble.
Somewhere along in her apprenticeship, Minkpaw noticed her peer Puddlepaw being bullied by her mentor. Everyone knew they were brothers, and having grown up with her fair share of bullying, Mink wouldn't stand for it. She'd often get into arguments with the tom over it, often ending in her uncles having to intervene. Slatethroat would also grow irritated, growling at the tom to be a better role-model and so on. Honestly, it wasn't pretty and it lost Milkwing a lot of Minkpaw's respect. However, she still did respect him as a mentor and elder cat. She knew he wasn't as bad as he let on and still tries to get him to show that today. This possibly intensified once he was made deputy.
It wasn't much longer before Minkpaw was named Minkbelly. Her mentor and uncles were practically glowing with pride, but not as brightly as the newly named warrior herself. Still proud as can be about her new name and rank, Mink is ready for excitement and responsibility! Things haven't changed much though, she still butts heads with her former mentor plenty, and continues to stick up for Puddlepad. He is a sweet guy, and Mink refuses to let Milk think it's okay to put him down.
