Willowtail sighed as she forced herself up out of the nest. Several days have gone by since Hawkeye had been killed in battle. She hadn't left the camp let alone her nest since the day they buried him. She had sat next to him wide awake the whole night the camp sat vigil. She had refused to shed a tear in front of her camp. She hadn't shed a tear until two days after he died when she spoke to Ivystar. Since than she was beginning to slowly come to grips with her mates death.
Wanting some alone time from all the kits in the nursery and their mothers she headed out of the nursery and out the camp entrance. Her kits weren't due for another moons still so she had no worry about going out and hunting for a bit. As she left the camp she became lost in memories of her and Hawkeye. Every where she went in the forest there was a memory of her and him together. Hew was not just her mate but her mentor and best friend. He was her everything.
Willowtail wondered through the woods never stopping to hunt prey even though she passed many a birds and squirrels. They must have known she was off in her own little world for they didn't hurry off into there nests or up a tree when she passed by them. A mouse was even so bold to run right in front of her and still she did not go for it.
Eventually she stopped when she realized where she was. As Willowtail looked around the first hint of a smile since Hawkeye died six days ago crossed her muzzle. She was at the Ancient Oak, it was there favorite place to come and hunt together or talk in private. It was where they first mated together and where she told him she was expecting. This place more than any other made her feel like he truly was there with her now even though she couldn't see him. She imagined she could still smell him here. She breathed in deeply and sighed.
All of a sudden the sound of a stick cracking under ones paw made her just and turn around to face where the noise came from. "Who's there why are you fallowing me?" She yowled angry sure it was Ivystar or someone she sent to keep an eye on her. "I don't need a babysitter," she hissed angrily. Why did they have to intrude in her happy moment. It was the first time she had felt happy since her clan mates dragged his limp body into camp.
