Herb collecting(Open)

Softsky continued to wait for someone to volunteer to help him and he had just about decided that the camp was empty of warriors and apprentices and that no one was here to help him when he heard a voice. Hie ears went up and her turned his head towards the warrior. He hadn't scented her in the camp so he hadn't none that she was even in camp the three legged tom dipped his head to the warrior glad that someone had heard him and was willing to help him.

"Near the lake, I'm really low on marigold, horsetail, fennel, comfrey root, and water mint" he told the warrior knowing she probably wouldn't know what he was talking about so he thought he should explain. "Most of those herbs can be found near water or in damp soil," he explained to the warrior. "I just need a warrior to come a long in case we run into trouble, can't really get around like I use to," he meowed looking down at the place where a forth leg should have been before returning his attention to her.

If Softsky noticed her looking at the place where his missing leg should have been he didn't say anything. He had never been the kind of cat who could be mean to another cat or to say something mean to them. Of course that didn't mean that he couldn't get on to a cat if he saw them doing something wrong. He just wasn't the kind of cat to go around accusing cats or making cats feel guilty. Maybe it was because of what had happened to him but in a sense he had always been like that. Losing a leg had just made him see that sometimes a disability didn't make you worthless. After all he had only three legs and he was helping his clan by being their medicine cat and that had to be something.

"Yes, we should it's good that it is sunhigh because if its to early there can be dew on the plants and with the sun this high the dew would have been burned off," he told her cheerfully and began to limp towards the camp entrance. It was hard to get around on only three legs but he was to stubborn to ever ask any one to assist him by letting them lean on them. When he had first started walking with three legs and had found out how to get his balance with only three legs he had stopping asking for the assistance of his clan mates. Now a days he only asked for assistance when he needed to go out and collect herbs since he really couldn't pay attention to his surroundings when he was collecting herbs since the scent of herbs made any other scents fade away.

"Oh that sound good, still I will probably need help carrying the herbs back to camp and it's actually pretty hard to pay attention to your surroundings when your muzzle deep in herbs," he told her amusement glimmering in his eyes for a minute. "Well lets, go get those herbs I need them in case something happens to our clan mates wouldn't want to have to turn away patients just because I didn't have the herbs," he told her and limped out of camp glancing over his shoulder to see if she was following him.

Softsky wasn't usually this talkative but he knew Mottletail from when he had trained with her though he had started his training a little bit after he with her being three moons older then him. Mottletail kind of reminded him of his sister and he was most comfortable around his sister. He usually kept to himself or would spend his time with a close friend or his sister. He was also really reserved around all his clan mates even his sister didn't see his emotions. He was still the same cat he had been before the dog accident but there was still some things that had changed he hadn't been reserved before the accident and had been really energetic but the accident had made him realize that he might have not taken life as seriously as he could have.

He realized that he was a little bigger than her under his fluffy fur he was actually pretty average in size. His fur just made him look like a giant..well that was if his fur didn't make him look like a walking cloud. He spotted the lake as the came in sight and glanced at her. "I'll need your help getting some of the herbs so are really close to the waters edge," he told her nodding to a purple flower that was really close to the waters edge. "That is watermint," he told her limping towards the plant. "We need to gather some of this but not so much that we destroy the supply," he told her.

"Yes, that's right, if you pick to many of the leaves though you could possibly destroy the supply," Softsky told her nipping the stem of the leaf making sure to be gentle and put the leaf of the ground so she could see it. "You also have to be gentle with it nip the stem of the leaf the connects it to the flower," he told her glancing at her. "If your to rough with it you'll probably just end up tearing the leaf and then it would be useless," he told her the tip of his tail twitching back and forth. While he wasn't really the most talkative of cats he knew that he had to explain to her how to collect it.

He didn't want her to end up tearing the leaves even if by accident so he figured he should tell her to collect the leaves before they started collecting the leaves. The medicine cat tried to nip at some more leaves but because of how close it was to the water it was hard to keep his balance. Irritated he limped away from the plant looking around until his eye landed on some marigold further away from the water. "I'll go collect some marigold, call if you have any questions," he meowed hiding his irritation and limped over to the marigold which was a yellow flower.

ooc: I don't know why the describe watermint the way the do the picture they have for watermint is a purple flower but wikia describes it as a leafy plant. I know the names of most of the herbs and what the do but I always forget where they grow.

Not hearing her say anything he turned his attention to the marigold he hadn't paid attention to the water mint leaves that she had already collected. He just wanted to get all the herbs he needed so that they could return to camp. He also just wanted to get all the herbs that he wanted so that he could add them to his herb stock. He didn't like to look at his herb stock and see that he was missing or running low on herbs. Flicking his tail back and forth he began to collect the marigold. When he was sure that he had enough he gathered them up and limped back over to Mottlesky. He put the herbs down glancing down at the watermint leaves she had already collected before glancing back up at her. "So how has collecting gone, we need to move on to the herbs that we came out here for, I want to get back to camp before it gets to late wouldn't want our clan mates to think something has happened to us," Softsky told her.

Softsky stood there waiting for her to say something he had to admit that having her help him collect herbs was actually making everything easier. Usually when he collected herbs he had to make many trips back and forth but he was sure that with her help getting all the herbs to his den wouldn't take a long time. He was glad that she had been there to help him collect herbs because sometimes he was out her until almost moon high collecting herbs but that might be because he usually waited so late to collect herbs. Sometimes he would go out to collect herbs in the morning but that rarely happened. Usually he would be sorting through his herbs in the morning on the days he went gathering herbs. Of course he didn't sort herbs every day there was really no point in sorting through herbs every day he usually tried to keep an eye on his clan mates on the days that he didn't sort or gather herbs.

"Since we already collected the needed watermint and marigold we need to collect fennel, horsetail, and comfrey root next," he told her looking around spotting the fennel plant and nodded to the plant he had spotted. "That over there is fennel," he told her nodding over to the plant with green spiky leaves. The herb is good for elders since it helps with joint pains," he told her limping over to the plant.
