Rednose slipped out of camp. Late afternoon sunlight dappled the floor of the ShadowClan forests. This afternoon, they would be training Sagepaw.
It would be an understatement to say that Ravenstar giving them an apprentice was a shock. They weren't sure how they felt about it. Their emotions were blurred and confused. They felt petrified, (what if they weren't good enough?) and honored, (they just couldn't believe that Ravenstar would pick them to train a young warrior!) and confused, (what about them was qualified? They barely felt like an grown cat, much less like a trained warrior who was ready to raise another being.)
They ruminated as they went to the place they had discussed with Sagepaw. It was relatively removed from the bustle of camp. It wouldn't be likely that they'd be interrupted by border patrols, or any other things that Rednose would consider a nuisance during training.
With this being the first time they'd ever trained an apprentice, they'd had trouble picking the subject. They'd felt too shy to ask any of the senior warriors about what to do. Eventually, they'd tentatively settled on frog hunting. Marshy ground was easy enough to find, and frogs even easier. It would be a useful skill that Sagepaw could put to use immediately.
