Fadinglight wandered by the river, watching the bright orange-and-red light of the setting sun dance across the running water. It was always beautiful this time of night, when the world seemed to get quiet all at once, as if everyone and everything were watching the sunset together. The Riverclan Deputy found it ironic that he favorite time of day was also her namesake, but she couldn’t bring herself to care all that much.
She’d been hunting all day and could feel the slight burn of a day’s work in her muscles, but it was a good kind of pain. Calm days like this were rare and she was glad to enjoy it while it lasted, so she hesitated on heading back to camp. She had a good few minutes of light left, and she could see well in the dark anyway. There was no need to rush. Fadinglight set herself a leisurely pace, basically a stroll, which suited her just fine. She should probably go and find the prey she buried; it wasn’t too far from here.
