First Day Out of the Nursery {Open}

Shadowpaw walked out of the apprentice and stretched. The mute she-cat looked for her mentor or for her sister to do something with but instead she saw the queen and her kits. Her left ear twitched nervously as she wondered what she could possible do after all she was an apprentice now but she figured that her mentor might be busy doing something. She had been surprised to receive the leader as her mentor thinking that they leader hadn't even noticed a mute cat like herself. She shook her head to clear her mind and began to groom her fur.

Shadowpaw was grooming her chest fur flat finishing the last touches of her morning grooming when the sound of a voice made her jump. The timid apprentice had been so absorbed in her grooming that she hadn't noticed that the kits were no longer playing. She hadn't noticed that Sunkit had wondered over to her until she spoke. She wrapped her tail neatly over her paws the tip of it twitching nervously. She knew well enough that a kit would never hurt her but she had always been shy or timid around others. The feeling of eyes on her didn't really make her any more comfortable not that it would matter anyway. The mute she-cat opened her mouth before closing it, she knew she had been born mute but it still didn't keep her from trying to talk. She often tried to talk even though she knew that there would never be any hope of her being able to speak. She finally looked up to see that the queen was watching her and the kit it made her want to sink into the ground which was how she usually felt. She wondered why her siblings and the clan put up with her after all even her parents hadn't wanted a mute cat like her.

Shadowpaw listened to the kit she was happy that she wasn't alone with a disability but she wasn't entirely happy either. She didn't like being mute and wouldn't want to wish a disability on anyone. She knew Willowtail was the mother and she was somewhat surprised that she had stayed after finding out one of her kits was mute. She hadn't realized yet that not all parents were like her own. She listened to what the kit had to say about playing. She wanted to play after all it would give her something to do instead of getting spooked so much. Unwrapping her tail from around her paws she tapped it on the ground.

Sunkit listened quietly hoping for a tap of the tail instead of a scratch of the claws. When the sound finally came her blind eyes brightened. She tapped her tail, she wanted to play. "Ok than let's play Mossball." She mewed excitedly. Turning her head she sniffed the air looking for the familiar scent of moss. Finally she picked up a trace of moss. She darted over to it and grabbed a chunk off of it than ran back to the scent of the other cat. Setting it down she smiled. "Ok ready, catch." Picking it up again she tossed the ball of moss in the other cats general location.

Willowtail watched Sunkit seem's she might have made a new friend. It made her smile. Her daughter was very intelligent for such a young age. Just than Dewshine padded up to her. "Good Morning Dewshine, thank you. They are all beautiful. Even though Sunkit is blind I love her just as much as the others. I just feel bad that she'll never be a warrior. I wish that wasn't something she has to miss out on."

Dewshine nodded her head sadly in acknowledgement. "Maybe so, but I'm sure she'll still be a great and helpful member of the clan."

The she-cat looked around the camp, thinking of all of her own kits. She was devastated when two of them died, but she knew they were safe in StarClan, and she still loved her other kits, every single one of them. The sun warmed her pelt as she thought of the future kits of ThunderClan.

Shadowpaw smiled when the kit said she had throw the ball good. She wasn't that use to getting compliments and it warmed her that the kit had complimented. The apprentice saw the ball coming back in her direction and she caught it between her forepaws making sure not to squish the moss when she caught it. The she tossed it back to the kit making sure that the throw was straight. She didn't want Sunkit to get hurt.

Sunkit purred when she heard her new friend catch the ball. "Good catch, I wish I knew your name so I had something to call you. But that's ok I'll just ask my mom later what your name is." She smiled sweetly up at Shadowpaw. At the sound of the mossball being thrown she stood on her hind paws and tilted her head. This time she managed to snag it with one paw. Again she purred as she caught the ball. "This is fun. Are you an apprentice or a warrior? Scratch your paw for warrior tap your tail for apprentice." She mewed, she wanted to know who she was playing with.

Willowtail laughed when she heard her daughters next question. They seemed to be working out their own private language to talk to each other. "She has shown some interest, she ventured into the Medicinecat's den and bombarded Eaglestone with a ton of questions. Though that might just be kit curiousity. She is very smart as you can see. She is working on making up a language for her and Shadowpaw to talk. I'm planning on talking to Eaglestone if she continues to show interest in herbs and healing."
